San Juan de Girón

San Juan Girón, better known as Giron, is a municipality in the Department of Santander, which is part of the Bucaramanga metropolitan area to the northeast of Colombia. The municipality is known nationally for its colonial infrastructure.

The municipality of Girón was founded in 1631 by Francisco Mantilla of the Rivers. By its handmade architecture of the colonial period it was recognized as a National Monument of Colombia in 1959, fact that was regulated in 1963.

San Juan Girón límita al oriente: con los municipios de Floridablanca, Piedecuesta y Bucaramanga (Area Metropolitana de Bucaramanga); al occidente: con el Municipio de Betulia; al norte: con los municipios de Sabana de Torres, Rionegro y Lebrija; y al sur: con los municipios Los Santos y Zapatoca.

Caminar en la noche por las empedradas calles de Girón, es romanticismo en su esplendor, la iluminación y sus parques decorados son atracción para sellar compromisos entre enamorados.

San Juan Girón limits to the East: With the municipalities of Floridablanca, Piedecuesta and Bucaramanga (Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area); to the West: with the municipality of Betulia. To the North: with the municipalities of Sabana de Torres, Rionegro and Lebrija; and to the South: with Los Santos and Zapatoca municipalities.

Walking in the night by the cobbled streets of Girón, is romanticism in its splendour, lighting and its furnished parks are attraction to seal commitments between lovers.
